HEY! today is my birthday. say happy me. this poem has a weak ending. GET OVER IT.
~Hey, Boy~
It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Maybe not.
A few days though, and that's saying something
Children, brothers
Secrets?
Not anymore.
Little slaves can’t keep secrets
Children, brothers
You weren't supposed to know
But what's said is said.
I like you, Boy
Little sweet school girl, I
And I know you've got one of your own
Not quite as little, not quite as sweet
But that's okay
It's four months now for you and her
Four months, and damned if you’re not happy.
I have such great friends
You have no idea
They don’t want me to change for you
Because they’re scared
Or worried
or something
They don’t want me to get hurt when four months is five
Or six
Or forever
But that's the thing
I'm not out for eternity here
Yeah, I like you, Boy
But little sweet school girl, I
You should know this by now
I don’t need to make out with you in a truck bed
Or wear your class ring
Not that I'd object to either
But I’d be perfectly content
To sit next to you during a movie
And get tired
And fall asleep
On your shoulder.
Not quite as little, not quite as sweet
Your little sweet school girl
Hell yes, you two are cute together.
I don’t even hate her
Sure, I should be green with envy
But we get along, she and I
Where do I think I stand with you, Boy?
We get along, you and I
We get along
…
Hey
Boy
We get along
